CIC: Semester 1, Week 4: Teaching novices to program with Microbits

Microbits are a popular way to introduce children to computer hardware and programming with a visual programming language. In the face to face class this week, you'll have a chance to try out Microbits and consider the logistics of teaching with them. To prepare for the class:

1. Read this article about physical computing from the Big Book of CS Pedagogy (pp130-138).

2. Read this article about an approach to structured programming activities for learners: PRIMM

3. Think about a children's story you know that contains conditions as part of the plot. During the class, think about how you could make a Microbits activity to match the story.

e.g. IF it is dark THEN the owl needs a light (This example is from Johnny, a former CiC student whose class was reading the story "The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark")
